<strong>Xiaolu Guo/郭小橹</strong><span> (China/United Kingdom) is a novelist, essayist and filmmaker. A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy and the UK National Film and Television School, she has worked both in Europe and China in cinema and literature. She is one of the inaugural fellows of the Columbia Institute of Ideas and Imagination in Paris and a jury member for the Man Booker Prize 2019. Named as a Granta Best of Young British Novelists in 2013, she has written eight books, directed eleven features and documentaries, and won numerous awards. Her novels include </span><em>A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers</em><span> (2007) and </span><em>I Am China</em><span> (2014). Her memoir </span><em>Once Upon A Time In The East</em><span> (2017) won the National Book Critics Circle Award 2017 and was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize and Costa Book Awards. Her most recent novel, </span><em>A Lover’s Discourse</em><span><span> (2020), was shortlisted for The Goldsmiths Prize 2020.<br /><br />Her feature film, <em>The Concrete Revolution</em> (2004) won the Grand Prix, International Human Rights Film Festival, Paris, and Special Jury Prize, EBS International Documentary Film Festival, Seoul, both in 2005. <em>How Is Your Fish Today?</em> (2006), Sundance Film Festival 2006 Official Selection, received the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Fiction Film, International Women Film Festival, Paris, and special mention for the Netpac Tiger Awards, Lino Miccichè Award, and Jury Prize at the Rotterdam Film Festival, Pesaro Film Festival, and Fribourg International Film Festival respectively in 2007. <em>She, A Chinese</em> (2009), Toronto and Pusan Film Festivals Official Selections 2009, received the Golden Leopard Award at the Locarno International Film Festival and Montblanc Scriptwriting Award at the Hamburg Film Festival, in the same year. <em>Once Upon A Time Proletarian </em>(2009), Venice, Toronto and Pusan Film Festivals Official Selections 2009 and TIFF 2010, received Special Jury Award, Cines del Sur Film Festival, Granada, New Directors/New Films, MoMA, New York, both 2008, and the Grand Prix de Genève 2011. <em>UFO In Her Eyes </em>(2011), TIFF 2011, was awarded the second prize for the City of Venice Award, 70<sup>a</sup> Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, Venice, 2013.<br /><br /></span></span>

<span>Zak Kyes is the founder and creative director of Zak Group. At Zak Group his work focuses on brand strategy for cultural and commercial clients including Anne Imhof, Frank Ocean, M+, Nike, Paco Rabanne, Virgil Abloh and vitra among many others.</span><br /><br /><span>Kyes served as Art Director of the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London for more than ten years, establishing his international standing as an art director, publisher and curator. At the AA he art directed the school’s design and publishing studio and co-founded the publishing imprint Bedford Press, publishing over 150 titles on architecture, design and visual art.</span><br /><br /><span>In 2019 he was elected to the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), a professional body comprising the world's leading designers. He has lectured widely on design and been a visiting teacher at the Architectural Association, ECAL, LCC and OTIS. He holds a B.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts.</span>

<span>Yung Ma joined the Hayward Gallery in November 2021 working alongside Senior Curator Cliff Lauson and reporting to Director Ralph Rugoff. Prior to his appointment at the Hayward Gallery, he served as Curator of the Contemporary Art and Prospective Creation Department at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where he organised the solo exhibition</span><em> HX</em><span> by Cao Fei (2019), and has also co-organised the group exhibitions </span><em>Chine-Afrique</em><span> (2020) and </span><em>Global(e) Resistance</em><span> (2020 – 2021). He was previously Associate Curator of Moving Image at M+, Hong Kong (2011–16), where he was tasked to develop the institution’s moving image collection. While at M+, he also conceived the series </span><em>M+ Screenings</em><span> (2016–) as well as exhibitions such as </span><em>Mobile M+: Moving Images </em><span>(2015). He has twice served as Co-Curator of the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, in 2009 with the solo presentation of Pak Sheung Chuen and 2013 with the solo presentation of Lee Kit.</span>

<p class="staff-body__introduction heading heading--five">Christina is an architect, landscape architect, and urban designer specialising in conducting design-led research that critically engages the production of knowledge infrastructures related to climate- and neuro-ecologies.</p>

<p>Christina holds a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Tennessee and two graduate degrees from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design: a Masters of Architecture and Urban Design and a Masters of Landscape Architecture. Since 2012, she has worked with local community groups, activists, artists, and researchers to engage with environmental and human rights violations across south and southeast Asia. She is currently working on the publication of <i>Monsoon as Method</i> with Monsoon Assemblages, and developing research on the commodified soils and airs of the tropics for The <i>Orang-orang</i> and the <i>Hutan</i>.</p>

<span>Amy Sherlock (born in 1987 in Manchester) is a writer and editor based in London, UK. She is the deputy editor of the international arts and culture journal </span><em>frieze</em><span>, where she has worked since 2011. In addition to her editorial work, she is the curator of the annual Frieze Academy Art & Architecture Conference, which takes place every October in London. She was one of the directors of Open Source, a non-profit, free contemporary arts festival that took place in Dalston, east London, in 2015–16 and worked with more than 60 emerging and established artists, also producing more than 15 new commissions. Her writing has been widely published in arts and culture publications and she has contributed to numerous monographs, including recent pieces on Nick Goss and Lois Dodd, as well as academic journals.</span>

<span>Mark Rappolt is the Editor-in-Chief of <i>ArtReview</i>. He founded its sister</span><span> </span><span>publication, <i>ArtReview Asia</i>, in 2013.
