Ngoc Nau is a media artist based in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen, Vietnam. She is also interested in development of new technologies that are changing the way people see the world. Starting from a macro perspective, she gradually moves to a micro level using real stories of daily life to find ways to connect the larger system with her community.

Long-form biography for the Contributor (no character count). A short-form biography (no more than 240 characters) should be added to the Contributor's Description

Saroot Supasuthivech (b. 1991, Bangkok, Thailand, where he lives and works) employs a multifarious research approach to reimagine a range of localities, merging chronologies and perspectives. The artist not only looks toward geographical and political facts, but also takes into account the ways specific sites are situated and depicted in memory and discourse. Reacting to popular and official narratives, alongside ancient traditions and their waning relevance, he examines the corruption and deterioration of history and identity. Supasuthivech constantly engages with reassemblage through the thematic, aesthetic and experiential: he often combines installation, image, and sound, constructing intensely sensorial hyperrealities. The artist unearths marginalized oral histories and buried memories, evoking the sacrosanct and forming his own rites of ritual and remembrance.

Saroot Supasuthivech graduated with a BA in mix-media arts from Silpakorn University, Bangkok, in 2015. His debut solo exhibition was held Nova Contemporary, Bangkok in 2023. Saroot has participated in a number of group exhibitions, including Passages, NTU Centre for Contemporary Art, Singapore (2023); Watch and Chill: Streaming Art to Your Homes, MMCA, M+, MAIIAM, MCAD(2021); ᘐ (Qi), Nova Contemporary, Bangkok (2020); Footnotes on Institution. Gallery VER, Bangkok (2019); and BACC Early Years Project #2, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok (2017).

Biographical Text
Long-form biography for the Contributor (no character count). A short-form biography (no more than 240 characters) should be added to the Contributor's Description
Citra Sasmita (b.1990, Indonesia) is concerned with unravelling the myths and misconceptions of Balinese art and culture. She is also deeply invested in questioning a woman’s place in social hierarchy and seeks to upend normative constructs of gender. Due to her interests and research around these themes of identity and agency, the artist’s oeuvre is often peppered with provocative themes that challenges the status quo, whether in its aesthetics or the messages that it conveys. Taking traditional elements, myths and iconography from ancient Balinese culture and literature, Sasmita departs from convention and traces the marginalised narrative of women in Balinese society. In her works, she endows her female figures with powerful agency, which reimagines the depiction of Balinese women against the backdrop of a patriarchal Indonesian society.

Sasmita has been exhibited internationally at various institutions and biennales, including the Kathmandu Triennale 2021-2022, Nepal; Jogja National Museum, Yogyakarta; ParaSite Hong Kong; MACAN Museum, Jakarta; and Redbase Foundation, Yogyakarta. Her most recent solo exhibition, ‘Ode to the Sun’ was held at Yeo Workshop, Singapore in 2020. In the same year, Sasmita was commissioned by UOB Museum MACAN Jakarta to create ‘Tales of Nowhere’ for the Children Art Space; following her recognition as the Gold Winner UOB Painting of The Year in 2017.

The algae’s bacterial decomposition is a high oxygen-consuming process that depletes the amount of oxygen available for other species to survive. Although dead zones can form spontaneously, scientists have observed the exponential increase in their number since the 1960s and remarked that there is a causal relation to polluting inputs produced by human activity. Listening Through the Dead Zones is a sonic contemplation over the disruptive impact of human activities on subaqueous environments. Sounds from Greenland’s Arctic Ocean, Iceland, Norway and from the tropical waters around Thailand, the Caribbean Sea, and Panama have been recorded by the artist with hydrophones and composed in a richly layered sound installation. Audiences are invited to eavesdrop onto underwater soundscapes populated by various animal species that depend on sound to communicate, hunt, and orientate while shipping, oil extraction, military sonars, leisure boat traffic and other anthropogenic factors inflict acoustic distress on marine life.

Her artworks make use of sophisticated technologies and specialist expertise to stage intimate, poetic, and philosophical engagements between people and their natural environment.
