<span>Before joining NTU in 2011 Michael J. K. Walsh was employed at Eastern Mediterranean University (Famagusta, Cyprus) where he successfully nominated Famagusta for inclusion in the World Monuments Fund Watch List (twice) and acted as team coordinator for the United Nations project ‘Cultural Heritage Data Collection in the northern part of Cyprus’. He has also edited and co-edited four books on the cultural history and heritage protection of Famagusta. These are: Medieval Famagusta: Studies in Art, Architecture and History (Ashgate in 2012), Crusader to Venetian Famagusta (Central European University Press, 2014), Ottoman to British Famagusta (CSP, 2015) and The Armenian Church of Famagusta and the Complexity of Cypriot Heritage: Prayers Long Silent (Palgrave, 2017). His second research tangent is related to Modernism and the Great War and this has resulted in several books such as This Cult of Violence (Yale University Press, 2002), A Dilemma of English Modernism (University of Delaware Press, 2007), Hanging a Rebel (Lutterworth Press, 2008), London, Modernism and 1914 (Cambridge University Press, 2010), Australia and the Great War: Identity, Memory and Mythology (Melbourne University Press, 2016) and The Great War and the British Empire: Culture and Society (Routledge, 2016). He has just completed a monograph about poet / songwriter Eric Bogle called ‘An Old Man’s Tears: Eric Bogle, Music and the Great War’ which will be published by Routledge in January 2018. Michael was Associate Chair (Research) at ADM from 2012 – 2016, is currently Deputy Director of the University Scholars Program, and fellow of both the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Historical Society.</span>

<p><strong>Joseph Chinyong Liow</strong> is Tan Kah Kee Chair in Comparative and International Politics at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is Professor and former Dean at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, and currently Dean of College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at NTU Singapore. He held the inaugural Lee Kuan Yew Chair in Southeast Asia Studies at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC, where he was also a Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Program.</p>
<p>Joseph’s research interests encompass Muslim politics and social movements in Southeast Asia and the geopolitics and geoeconomics of the Asia Pacific region.</p>
<p>Joseph is the author, co-author, or editor of 14 books. His most recent single-authored books are <em>Ambivalent Engagement: The United States and Regional Security in Southeast Asia after the Cold War</em> (Brookings 2017), <em>Religion and Nationalism in Southeast Asia</em> (Cambridge University Press, 2016) and <em>Dictionary of the Modern Politics of Southeast Asia</em>, fourth edition (Routledge, 2014). A regular columnist for<span> </span><em>The Straits Times</em>, his commentaries on international affairs have also appeared in <em>New York Times, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, National Interest, Nikkei Asian Review</em>, and the <em>Wall Street Journal</em>. He has testified to the United States Congress, and been invited to deliver a special closed-door briefing to the ASEAN Defence Minister’s Meeting. In addition to scholarship and policy analysis, Joseph has also consulted for a wide-range of MNCs including Shell, BHP Billiton, Chevron, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Total, and Statoil. He sits on the board of several peer-reviewed academic and policy journals, is a member of the Social Science Research Council (Singapore), and serves as Singapore’s representative on the advisory board of the ASEAN Institute of Peace and Reconciliation formed under the auspices of the ASEAN Charter.</p>
<p>Joseph Liow holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a MSc in Strategic Studies from the Nanyang Technological University, and a BA (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Madison-Wisconsin.</p>

<span>Vibeke Sørensen (Denmark/Austria) is a professor, artist, and composer working in digital multimedia and computer animation, interactive architectural installation, and visual-music performance. Spanning four decades, her work in experimental new media has been published and exhibited worldwide. Sørensen has collaborated with scientists and engineers in developing new technologies, including at the San Diego Supercomputer Center, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Southern California, and Princeton University. She is a 2001 Rockefeller Foundation Fellow in Film/Video/Multimedia, and was a consultant for Disney and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory/NASA. Her research has been supported by the United States National Science Foundation, the USC Annenberg Center for Communication, the USC Zumberge Fund for Innovation in Research, and Intel Corporation. Sorensen was professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore where she served as chair of the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) from 2009 - 2019. She also served as founding director of the ADM Centre for Asian Art and Design (CAAD). Currently, she is Associate Faculty at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH Vienna) and a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University from September 2021.</span>

Dr June Yap is a curator, art historian, and Director of Curatorial, Programmes and Publications at the Singapore Art Museum. She is the author of <i>Retrospective: A Historiographical Aesthetic in Contemporary Singapore and Malaysia </i>(2016) and curator of the Singapore Pavilion at the <i>54th Venice Biennale</i> (2011). In April 2012, Yap was selected as Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator, South and Southeast Asia. This led to the exhibition <i>No Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia </i>that was also presented at NTU CCA Singapore between May and July 2014.

<span>LOW Eng Teong was trained as a visual artist and graduated from art colleges in New Zealand and Australia. He holds a Masters in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Eng Teong joined the education service in 1995 and served as a teacher, senior curriculum specialist and principal. In 2015, Eng Teong joined the National Arts Council as Director, Visual Arts Development where he oversaw the review of the visual arts sectoral plan and the management of Gillman Barracks visual arts precinct. Professor Alan Chan is currently the Provost and J.S. Lee Professor of Chinese Culture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Prior to joining CUHK, Professor Chan was Toh Puan Mahani Idris Daim Chair Professor of Humanities at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore. He joined NTU as Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and Professor of Philosophy in 2009. In January 2018, Professor Chan was appointed Vice President of NTU, responsible for alumni engagement, university advancement and international relations. Professor Chan was born in Hong Kong and completed his secondary school education here. He then pursued his higher education in Canada. He received his BA from the University of Winnipeg, MA from the University of Manitoba, and PhD in religious studies from the University of Toronto. Professor Chan began his academic career as an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba. He then joined the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he held several leadership roles, including the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education). While at NUS, Professor Chan twice received the Teaching Excellence Award. Professor Chan has held visiting professorships and fellowships in North America, Asia and Greater China, through which he has developed a broad understanding of higher education in a global context. Professor Chan’s research focuses on Chinese philosophy and religion, and hermeneutics and critical theory. He is a member of various international boards, including the Social Science Research Council of Singapore, the Governing Council of International Confucian Association, China, and the editorial boards of the Journal of Daoist Studies and Oxford Bibliographies in Chinese Studies. He has published widely and recently developed an online course on “Explorations in Confucian Philosophy,” which has drawn over 10,000 learners on Coursera. Professor Kwok Kian-Woon is a Sociology faculty and currently <span>Associate Vice President (Wellbeing)</span> at Nanyang Technological University. His research interests include the study of social memory, mental health, civil society, and heritage and the arts. As a sociologist and a citizen, he has been actively involved in public life. He has served on many key committees of the National Heritage Board, on the boards of the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore and the Intercultural Theatre Institute, and as external advisor to the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He was President (1997-2001) of the Singapore Heritage Society, which has worked with many Singaporeans to shape the national agenda on heritage conservation.

<span>Dr Eugene Tan is Director of National Gallery Singapore (2013) and Singapore Art Museum (2019). Prior to joining the Gallery, Dr Tan served as the Programme Director (Special Projects) at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and oversaw the development of Gillman Barracks, a visual arts hub in Singapore. Dr Tan has also held various positions in the arts, including Director of Exhibitions for Osage Gallery, Director of Contemporary Art at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art – Singapore, as well as Director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore. He has curated various exhibitions including the Singapore Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale (2005) and the inaugural Singapore Biennale (2006). Thematic exhibitions he has curated include “Of Human Scale and Beyond: Experience and Transcendence” (2012), “The Burden of Representation: Abstraction in Asia Today” (2010), “Coffee, Cigarettes and Pad Thai: Contemporary Art in Southeast Asia” (2008) and “Always Here but Not Always Present: Art in a Senseless World” (2008), as well as solo exhibitions by Charwei Tsai (2012), Lee Mingwei (2010) and Jompet (2010). He is co-author of the publication “Contemporary Art in Singapore” (2007) and has contributed writings to exhibition catalogues and publications by NUS Press, Hatje Cantz and Phaidon, as well as art journals such as Art Asia Pacific, Art Review, Broadsheet, C-Arts, Contemporary, Flash Art, Metropolis M, Modern Painters and Yishu: Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art. He has also presented at conferences and symposia internationally, including Australia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan and United Kingdom. Dr Tan graduated from Queen Mary College, University of London with a Bachelor of Science (2nd Upper Class Hons) in Economics and Politics and a Masters of Arts (Distinction) in Post- War and Contemporary Art from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art – London. He received his PhD in Art History from the University of Manchester.</span><br /><br /><span>He oversaw the development of Gillman Barracks as Programme Director (Special Projects) at the Singapore Economic Development Board and curated the exhibition <em>Engaging Perspectives: New Art from Singapore</em> (2013) that preceded the official opening of NTU CCA Singapore. Tan was also a member of NTU CCA Singapore’s Governing Council.</span>
