Andrea Nanetti will propose a different understanding of the maritime ‘heritage’ in terms of skills and knowledge. In the case of Allan Sekula’s work, he will show how the scholar and the artist approach to maritime heritage is quite different. He will work mainly on the misunderstandings and ideological biases of Allan Sekula’s work, especially when he brings to focus the people and the skills that constitute the maritime labour and uses the concept of “decline” for many maritime roles in the age of container.
