Biographical Text

Xiaocong Ge (b. 1995, works and lives in Singapore) utilises a variety of anecdotes and media in her exploration into our relationship with environments and individual interiority. Her area of research is in the latent tensions between the object, body, with the site in which they dwell. Her previous and ongoing projects discuss themes such as human conditions in the digital space, the invisible presence of power and control in everyday spaces, and creative historiography as a method of investigation into post-colonial historical architecture and narratives. Xiaocong was shortlisted for The Warden’s Prize 2018 in Goldsmiths, University of London, and was awarded the Highly Commendable Award in the 31st United Overseas Bank Painting of the Year Award Youth Section.
