Workshop: Envisioning a Climate Just Singapore in 2050 by SG Climate Rally
Description
In this workshop, SGCR invited participants to explore what climate justice means to them and co-create a vision for a climate just Singapore in 2050. Focusing on the uneven experiences of heat stress and weather events from a climate justice perspective, the workshop took participants through an introductory presentation, a mapping exercise focused on alternative visions of building Singapore, and group sharings, with the aim to unveil personal visions and philosophical beliefs about climate justice, while offering a safe space for participants to delve into their core values, ideas, and beliefs, and shape a collective vision for Singapore in 2050. Outcomes of the workshop contributed to the making of this almanac ‘forecasting’ the weather in Singapore in the year 2050, alongside archival vignettes of Singapore’s environmental history, the clairvoyant wisdom of a weather deity, and artistic observations of an expanding tropical climate.
