Biographical Text

LISA RAVE is an artist, filmmaker, and photographer. Rave travelled to Fiji and the Lau Island Group in 2017 as part of TBA21–Academy’s THE CURRENT fellowship programme, led by Prof Ute Meta Bauer. She participated in the resulting exhibition THE OCEANIC (2017/18) and accompanying conference THE CONVENING #3: TABU/TAPU — WHO OWNS THE OCEAN? (2018) at NTU CCA Singapore. In her essayistic work, Rave often explores contested landscapes, and history’s repeating patterns in the complex interplay of culture, economy, and ecology. Between 2018 and 2023, she taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg with a focus on artistic research and transdisciplinary practices. She was a an artist fellow at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart.
