Title

Lecture: Why am I not a South-East Asian specialist by Visiting Research Fellow Tony Godfrey

Description

Tue 9 Jun 2015, 07:30 pm - 09:00 pm
Block 37 Malan Road, Seminar Room

Tony Godfrey, NTU CCA Singapore Visiting Research Fellow, has written extensively about South-East Asia art in the last six years, however he does not see himself as a South-East Asian specialist. Noting the strong focus on Southeast Asia in local major institutions such as the Singapore Art Museum, the Singapore Biennale and the National Gallery, Godfrey will address in his lecture the issues that arise from this exclusion zone, what are the advantages and disadvantages of this “patriotism” and question what is the best way to support and promote art from the region.
