Description

3 Nov 2015, Tue 7:30pm - 9:00pm
The Single Screen, Block 43 Malan Road

Reflections on curating, commons and collectivity or why does reproductive work matter in an institution?

Intellectuals conduct research, write texts and curate exhibitions. Within these range of practices, intellectual work means the production of knowledge, but what about the work which enables this production of knowledge to take place such as cooking, cleaning, caring? Taking the position that reproductive work is a site for creating new forms of cooperation and for “communing”, Curator-in-Residence Syafiatudina will discuss the practice of curating and the division of labour based on the KUNCI Cultural Studies Center, an alternative cultural space and collective of researchers and cultural practitioners, based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
