This is the second screening session in collaboration with the Asian Film Archive (AFA) as a response to NTU CCA Singapore's yearlong framework, PLACE.LABOUR.CAPITAL. The Asian Film Archive was founded in 2005 with the mission to preserve and share the film heritage of Asia.
Punggok Rindukan Bulan (This Longing, 2008), Directed by Azharr Rudin

Punggok Rindukan Bulan, directly translated from Malay as "the owl misses the moon", is a reflection on longing. Set in the border town of Johor Bahru, Malaysia, the film focuses on a teenage boy and his father, who are faced with the sudden absence of a key female figure in their life.
Return to Burma (2011), Directed by Midi Z

The film focuses on the story of a Burmese labourer who has worked on construction in Taipei for 10 years. Changes in Myanmar prompt him to return with the ashes of his friend and co-worker who died in Taipei. Back in his home village he feels like a stranger in a foreign land with family, friends and neighbours living in poverty.
