Punggok Rindukan Bulan, directly translated from Malay as "the owl misses the moon", is a reflection on longing. Set in the border town of Johor Bahru, Malaysia, the film focuses on a teenage boy and his father, who are faced with the sudden absence of a key female figure in their life.

The film focuses on the story of a Burmese labourer who has worked on construction in Taipei for 10 years.
