Liao Jiekai is a filmmaker and artist based in Singapore. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he is a founding member of film collective 13 Little Pictures and has been actively involved as in the Singapore film scene. His credentials include editor of White Days by Lei Yuan Bin and Kopi Julia by Tan Bee Thiam and producer of My Father After Dinner by Gladys Ng. Since 2005, he directed several short films, which includes Clouds in a Shell and The Inner City. His latest short film Before the Wedlock House was presented at the 9th Singapore Short Cuts and the 3rd Substation Indie Doc Fest, before winning the best documentary short at the 2nd Salaya International Documentary Film Festival. His 2010 debut feature length film, Red Dragonflies won the Special Jury Prize at the Jeonju International Film Festival and was selected for competition at various film festivals in Buenos Aires, Santiago, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. In 2017, along with four other co-directors, Liao Jiekai released 667, a drama film produced by Chuan Pictures and commissioned by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.
